Any time Netflix lands two new additions to its top 10 shows, it has to be considered a good week for the streamer.
Netflix’s latest drama, The Hunting Wives, has already raced to the top five. Meanwhile, the Starz original series Hightown has also found new life on Netflix.
Both of those series were easy picks for this week’s roundup of the three underrated Netflix shows to watch this weekend.
Our remaining pick for the week is a Netflix original that didn’t get enough attention when it was released in 2022, but it deserves a second chance to find an audience.
‘Hightown’ (2020 – 2024)
Hightown revolves around Jackie Quiñones (Monica Raymund), a woman with a nearly unquenchable appetite for drugs and alcohol and a long history of hooking up with other women. When Jackie stumbles upon the body of Sherry Henry (Masha King), it reawakens her desire to see justice done for the victim. However, Jackie is only a National Marine Fisheries Service agent. That means this murder and any crimes related to it are out of her jurisdiction.
Jackie’s unauthorized investigation will bleed into the inquiry by Detective Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale), who was using Sherry as his confidential informant to bring down a larger target, Frankie Cuevas Sr. (Amaury Nolasco). To advance the case, Ray approaches Frankie’s wife, Renee Segna (Riley Voelke), to make her his new informant. That choice may place both of their lives in danger.

‘The Hunting Wives’ (2025)
Desperate Housewives meets Dallas in Netflix’s new drama The Hunting Wives. It’s a real culture shock for Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow), a former resident of Massachusetts who relocates to Maple Brook, Texas, alongside her husband, Graham (Evan Jonigkeit), and their son.
Sophie’s pretty lonely as a stay-at-home mom until Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman) brings her into an exclusive social circle, including Jill (Katie Lowes) and Callie (Jaime Ray Newman). These women embrace a hedonistic lifestyle that flies in the face of traditional values, but that’s what Sophie finds so appealing about them. It’s all fun until someone in the community ends up dead, and the wives may have some connection to the crime.

‘Keep Breathing’ (2022)
Scream standout Melissa Barrera takes the spotlight in Keep Breathing, a six-part survival thriller miniseries. Barrera plays Liv, an attorney whose trip of self-discovery goes incredibly off the rails. Liv wasn’t even supposed to be on the plane that went down in the Canadian wilderness, but now she’s the only survivor left.
Liv’s skills aren’t really up to the challenge of living off the wild until finding her way back to civilization. That’s why she has to push herself forward through adversity while reflecting on the choices she made in her daily life that led her to this position. But the only one who can save Liv is herself.
