Anton and I Are Watching the Most Life-Affirming TV Show

4 hours ago 1

Last night, after playing the board game Outfoxed (not to brag, but we won against the fox three times), 12-year-old Anton and I decided to turn on a show…

We chose America’s Got Talent, which just finished its 20th season. Have you watched it? They have the emotional rollercoaster down to a science — for example, Simon stopped the 12-year-old singer, above, twice, saying he didn’t like her song choices. She nervously headed backstage, tried a few other options, and returned to sing an original song about her dad. The tears rolling down my cheeks!

When these four older men from Detroit introduced themselves, we figured they were singers, so our jaws dropped when their act began! Wouldn’t you love to see them perform in person?

And this cutie Benjamin Hightower sang his version of Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club. During the line, “Won’t make my mama proud, it’s gonna cause a scene; She sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream,” he looked right at his own mother in the audience. Gahhh, this show really knows how to tug on the heartstrings.

What other shows are you into these days — for kids or just grown-ups? Freddie recently enjoyed Task, but I thought it sounded too scary!

P.S. Freddie and I have a movie-watching strategy, and do TV jobs seem real? We asked a doctor, chief, priest and therapist.
