BMW has launched the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe in India, with prices starting at Rs 46.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated entry-level luxury sedan is now available for booking and comes in two variants – M Sport and M Sport Pro, the latter priced at Rs 2 lakh more.
This new-generation model sees a major change under the hood, as it ditches the earlier 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines for a smaller 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, marking a clear shift in the powertrain lineup.
Bold New Design
The latest 2 Series Gran Coupe carries forward BMW’s signature sporty styling, now with a more aggressive twist. The front fascia features a wide illuminated kidney grille finished in black, flanked by sleek LED headlamps and large air intakes. On the sides, its sloping coupe-like roofline, frameless doors, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels enhance its dynamic appeal.
At the rear, the sedan gets wraparound LED taillights, a clean boot design, and a sculpted bumper with black inserts and red reflectors. It is available in four exterior shades: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey, and Portimao Blue.
Premium Interiors with Dual Themes
Inside, the cabin feels plush and modern, offered in two interior themes: Oyster (beige) and Mocha. The layout is clean, with a curved screen housing the 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10.24-inch digital driver display in a single unit.
Minimal physical buttons, silver inserts, and ambient lighting add to the luxury quotient. Rear passengers get three headrests, a centre armrest with cupholders, and rear AC vents for enhanced comfort.
Feature-Loaded and Safer Than Before
The new 2 Series Gran Coupe comes equipped with several premium features:
Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system
Head-up display
Wireless phone charger
Dual-zone climate control
Cruise control
Interior camera
BMW Digital Key
On the safety front, the sedan includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, rear camera, dashcam, ISOFIX mounts, TPMS, and ADAS features for added protection.
Engine & Performance
Powering the new-gen model is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a noticeable downgrade from the 2.0-litre units in the previous version. While BMW hasn't revealed full output figures, this change points toward a more efficiency-focused direction for the entry-level luxury sedan.
With the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe, BMW aims to attract first-time luxury car buyers while retaining its performance DNA and style quotient in a more compact and city-friendly package.
