Marking the 79th anniversary of India’s Independence, the Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated the occasion with a ceremonial flag hoisting and salute at the Indo-Pakistan border in Nadabet, Banaskantha district.

BSF Gujarat Inspector General Abhishek Pathak, who led the celebrations, praised the force’s exemplary contribution during Operation Sindoor and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation. Speaking to reporters, Pathak extended Independence Day greetings and echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant and developed India by 2047.

“This Independence Day holds special significance as it follows Operation Sindoor. Our BSF and the Army performed exceptionally well, ensuring the enemy’s designs were thwarted,” Pathak said. He highlighted that on August 14, BSF personnel received two Vir Chakras and 16 gallantry medals for their bravery in the operation.

The celebrations drew large crowds, with locals joining BSF jawans in a patriotic display. The border area was decked in the Tricolour, and attendees witnessed cultural performances alongside the ceremonial salute. For many, it was a rare opportunity to participate in an event that was once reserved for dignitaries.

Pathak urged citizens to excel in their respective fields as a contribution to national strength and unity, underlining the shared responsibility of securing the nation.
