Busy Phillipps Reacts to ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Resurgence After Recent Reunion

The internet is freaking out over Joshua Jackson’s reunion with Dawson’s Creek love interest (and real life ex!) Katie Holmes — and Busy Philipps is all about it.

“Everybody loves Dawson’s Creek and I love it too,” Philipps, 46 — who recently reunited with Jackson, 47, herself last month — told Us Weekly exclusively at opening night of Ginger Twinsies on Thursday, July 24. “I’m happy that people are happy that we’re all hanging out.”

While she had teased a potential full-cast reunion to Us back in March, Philipps said there’s no update on that front quite yet. But she understands fans’ urgency, given the lasting impact the WB teen drama had, even 25 years later.

“I just think it’s one of the seminal teen shows and people return to it again and again,” she told Us. “What [show creator] Kevin Williamson did was sort of the first of its kind, having kids communicate like adults. It kind of changed culture. I mean, it actually changed the way kids communicated in a way, and so I think it’s just kind of lasting.”

Dawson’s fans were in a frenzy in June when Philipps and Jackson, who played love interests on seasons 5 and 6 of the teen drama, linked up at MPTF NextGen Annual Summer Party fundraiser. The excitement then hit a fever pitch when the Canadian actor reunited with Holmes, 46, earlier this week.

The pair were all smiles while filming Holmes’ upcoming trilogy of movies Happy Hours in New York City on Monday, July 21. They were spotted filming once again on Friday, July 25, sharing laughs — and even a twirl on Holmes’ part — while pushing a stroller in the park.

Philipps, Jackson and Holmes were part of an all-star teen cast on Dawson’s Creek that also included James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams. Airing six seasons from 1998 to 2003, the show traced the lives of a group of friends in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts, from high school through college.

While the cast didn’t speak for several years after the show wrapped, Van Der Beek revealed earlier this year that the group of actors have since reconnected.

“I’ve gotten in touch with them recently and it’s just been so nice,” Van Der Beek, 48, told Jana Kramer on her “Whine Down” podcast in March. “We all went our separate ways and just didn’t speak for years because we were just living our lives and doing our things. And to just kind of reconnect and be like, ‘Oh, wow, I love who you’ve become.’”

Van Der Beek, 48, confirmed in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer the year before, and Philipps told Us in March that she, Holmes, and Williams, 44, are in the process of organizing a reunion in support of their former costar.

“We’re really trying to figure something out, but there are a couple of people who have some work things that cannot be moved,” she said at the time. “It’s like playing chess, trying to get everybody’s schedules to align. I’m very hopeful that at some point we will.”
