The couple that works out together, stays together? That certainly seems to be the case for some celebrity couples who hit the gym together.
In any case, besides strengthening their relationships with extra time to bond as they sweat their way through jogs, yoga classes or HIIT sessions, these power couples are strengthening their already amazing bodies. Sometimes, they even pick up tips from the other’s fitness regimen!
Jennifer Lopez, for example, has always stayed in great physical shape. But during her relationship with former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez, which began in 2017, she really stepped up her exercise game. “Everyone does resistance training, but she’s more being sculpted, meaning, every exercise she does is for a purpose and a reason,” Romero Dodd told Us Weekly in January 2019. “There’s a lot of things that we don’t do because it would make her look masculine or boyish or maybe over-muscular. My formula is more like art work. I look at things that need to come off and things that need to be added.” Continued the pro, “My philosophy is tiny and tight. My goal is to make her tiny and tight — not bigger and bulky.”
Lopez and Rodriguez called off their engagement in 2021. She moved on with ex Ben Affleck later that year, and they got married in 2022. Lopez filed for divorce two years later, which was finalized in early 2025

Weeks after the rapper’s social media debut with NBA star Thompson in July 2025, she offered fans a glimpse of their joint gym session.
“Bitch, I have been working out with my man,” she said in a voiceover. “First of all, we went to the gym and we were doing these things. They said to lift this s*** up. I think he thought that I couldn’t do it, but bitch, I was very much keeping up.”
“I used to clown couples that worked out together but now I’m that sucka that looks forward to our 6am sweat sessions,” the Bring It On star wrote via Instagram in May 2022. “When I wanna give up, I just look to my side and get that push and smile from @dwyanewade and I thug it out. It’s our own private time before the house wakes up to love on each other and love on ourselves.”
“Working out with the one and only #dangainzbeefhaus — On our phones and also watching @therighteousgemstones hoping to gain muscle by osmosis in #blackmoldparadise,” the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress captioned a selfie via Instagram in May 2022 of herself and husband Shepard in the gym together.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2010, keep a competitive edge in their relationship — especially when it comes to their joint workouts. "If I'm like, 'I've read this,' then he's like, 'Well I've read that!'" Pataky teased to Us in May 2020. "But you really have to listen to your body. Some things that are good for him aren't good for me."
A source revealed to Us in May 2020 that the musicians have been working hard to be active during the coronavirus pandemic "by going out for long walks as much as possible" while they quarantine. "Shawn's extremely diligent about his workout schedule and likes to do some sort of movement daily," the source added. The pair went their separate ways in late 2021.
The Pussycat Dolls alum keeps track of all of her at-home workouts with her former rugby star boyfriend on social media. "I love everything from jogging to dance cardio to hot yoga, boxing — whatever does the trick," Scherzinger told Us in May 2020. "I have to switch it up because I get bored!"
The model and the Maroon 5 singer exchanged vows in 2014 — and have been committed to staying fit even after the births of their two daughters, Dusty Rose and Gio Grace. "Kinda have a thing for my trainer," Prinsloo teased alongside an Instagram post of the couple showing off their strong plank poses.
Underwood has long been known for her dedication to fitness and her strength training and HIIT sessions with Nashville-based pro Erin Oprea. But she also has another workout buddy: her former pro hockey player husband. “Better together!” she captioned a May 22, 2019 Instagram pic of her working out with Fisher during her Cry Pretty tour.
J. Lo and her then-fiancé knew how to push the other in all the right ways. “They’ll encourage each other to do more reps or have better form,” the then-couple’s trainer, Dodd Romero, told Us Weekly in January 2019. A sample joint workout might include a cardio warm-up with lunges and sumo-style squats. “They’re both so athletic,” Dodd told Us. “Jennifer has the will of a tiger.” And it shows!
In 2018, the actress and her basketball star hubby (the newest faces of Gatorade Zero), spent their fourth wedding anniversary working up quite a sweat — at the gym! “Teamwork makes our dream work,” the L.A.’s Finest star captioned a post that captured the celebratory calisthenics on Instagram. “4 years down and a lifetime ahead.”
“We work out all the time,” the Victoria’s Secret model has said of how she and her husband DJ Ruckus (a.k.a. Gregory Andrews), stay fit. “He’s always in the gym, so he motivates me.” While he’s a big fan of boxing, Shaik tells Us she prefers the toning and lengthening benefits of Pilates-based classes. “I never know when I have to jump on a plane and go do a swimwear shoot,” she’s told Us.
Even though she typically dances or does yoga, the America’s Got Talent judge started working out in the gym her then-husband set up in their garage. “Recently, I’ve been doing some weight training because my husband has a full blown gym in our garage, and I’m like, ‘I guess I have it here, might as well use it,’” she told Us in April 2019. Indeed, she started at least visiting the gym before then. As she captioned a July 3, 2018 Instagram video of her dancing in the garage while Laich lifted weights, “Brooks: ‘wanna do a workout with me today babe?’ Me: ‘yeah let’s do it!!!!’ 15 minutes later….”
The twosome split in 2020.
