OpenAI’s flagship AI chatbot, ChatGPT, suffered a major global outage, leaving thousands of users locked out of the platform. Within minutes of widespread complaints, the company confirmed the disruption on its official system status page.

According to outage tracker Downdetector.in, reports surged from multiple regions, with most users flagging problems on the web version, while others struggled to access the mobile app.

The disruption hit users worldwide. In India, over 500 users reported issues, while around 1,000 in the UK and nearly 400 in the US also faced difficulties. Globally, thousands were unable to use the chatbot.

OpenAI identified the glitch as a “ChatGPT Not Displaying Responses” error. “We are investigating the issue for the listed services,” the company noted on its status page.

Users vent frustration on social media

As the outage dragged on, many users expressed frustration online. One wrote, “There is a glitch today in ChatGPT. All of its replies have disappeared from all conversations!”

Another joked, “ChatGPT is down. You won't see some people today.”

Others voiced concern about being unable to finish important tasks, underscoring how dependent many have become on the AI chatbot for daily work.
