Delhi Weather Forecast: A fresh spell of rain is likely to strike the national capital during the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting light to moderate showers with thunderstorms from Friday through Sunday.

Although the intensity of rain in Delhi is likely to reduce slightly from Friday, the rest of the nation is likely to receive more rain. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in the Northeast and eastern India for the next week. Delhiites can look forward to a combination of sunshine and showers at the weekend, and thunderstorms are also likely to be attached to the rain.

Delhi weather forecast on Friday suggests a quite cool and rainy day, with very light to light rain having thunderstorms or lightning as likely possibilities. The temperatures are expected to stay below normal levels, with the maximum temperature staying between 33-35°C and the minimum temperature between 23-25°C.

Wind speeds will be moderate at 10-15 kmph, changing directions during the day from northeast during the morning to the southwest during the afternoon and southeasterly during the evening and night.

Weather Update: Delhi to receive rain on August 2 and 3

Delhi will see sustained rain on August 2 and 3 with mainly cloudy conditions and light drizzle, along with thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain at 34-36°C, and the night temperatures will be between 24-26°C, slightly less than the average for the season. The wind will remain moderate at 10-20 kmph with changing directions mostly from the northwest and northeast, which is responsible for the wet and overcast conditions.

Delhi experiences heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging

On Thursday, Delhi saw mixed rain patterns, with some places seeing moderate rain while others saw heavy rain, leading to waterlogging in localised areas and traffic jams. The weather report showed the maximum temperature at 29.9°C, five degrees less than the normal, and the minimum temperature at 24.7°C, two degrees less than the normal. This sharp dip in temperature was a welcome relief from the heat, but the problems posed by the rains led to disruptions in the city.

IMD forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has pointed out that Delhi has been experiencing patchy rainfall in recent days, causing significant nuisance to daily commuters across different parts of the city. With the unsettled weather and chances of stop-and-go showers continuing, citizens have been warned to exercise caution, especially during rush hours, to stay clear of disruptions and maintain seamless daily activities.
