First Trade: Indian stock markets open higher amid positive global cues; Nifty crosses 25,100 mark

On the back of encouraging global signals, Indian equity markets opened on a positive note today, with the Nifty climbing above the 25,100 mark. The Sensex gained 243.03 points, or 0.30%, to trade at 82,429.84, while the Nifty rose 70.60 points, or 0.28%, to 25,131.50.

Market breadth was healthy, with around 160 shares advancing against 71 declining and 22 remaining unchanged.

Among the top gainers on the Nifty were Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Shriram Finance, and Jio Financial. On the downside, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Tata Consumer, and Cipla faced selling pressure.

Additionally, stocks like Paytm, Lodha Developers, Oberoi Realty, Kirloskar Ferrous, KEI Industries, JSW Infra, Alpex Solar, and Monika Alcobev garnered notable investor interest in early trade.
