First Trade: Markets open flat, Sensex slips 120 pts, Nifty below 24,600 in cautious trade

Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian benchmark indices opened on a muted note this morning, tracking mixed global cues and cautious sentiment ahead of key domestic macro data.

At open, the Sensex slipped 120.87 points or 0.15 per cent to 80,483.21, while the Nifty was down 29 points or 0.12% at 24,556.05.

Market breadth was positive, with 1,336 stocks advancing, 860 declining, and 154 remaining unchanged.

Top Nifty gainers: Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, L&T, Hero MotoCorp, Jio Financial
Top laggards: Hindalco, ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy's, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank

Investors are likely to stay cautious through the session, with July CPI data and a flurry of earnings in focus.
