First Trade: Sensex falls over 300 pts, Nifty below 24,750; TCS drag, Tata Motors gains

Indian equity benchmarks opened on a weak note Monday, amid mixed global cues and cautious investor sentiment. The Sensex was down 302.47 points or 0.37 per cent at 81,160.62, while the Nifty declined 93.35 points or 0.38 per cent to 24,743.65.

Market breadth was slightly negative, with 1,108 shares advancing, 1,359 declining, and 184 remaining unchanged.

Among the top Nifty gainers were Tata Motors, Cipla, Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever, and Bajaj Finserv. On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Jio Financial, Bajaj Finance, HCL Technologies, and Titan Company were among the major losers.

Investors will be closely watching Q1 earnings, global trends, and institutional flows for further market direction.
