Ganeshotsav 2025 Indian Railways to operate record 380+ Ganpati Special trains— Here's full list of routes and stops

To make travel easier for devotees during Ganeshotsav, Indian Railways has announced the operation of over 380 Ganpati Special train trips this year, setting a new record for the festive season.

In the past two years, the number of trips has steadily gone up: 305 in 2023 and 358 in 2024. The latest increase shows the Railways’ effort to handle the extra rush of passengers during the festival.

The special services have already started from August 11, ahead of Ganeshotsav celebrations scheduled between August 27 and September 6, 2025.Those travelling during this period can check schedules and booking details on the IRCTC website, the RailOne app, or at computerised PRS counters.

Zone-wise services to cater to high demand

According to Railways, the Central Railway zone will account for 296 trips, Western Railway for 56, Konkan Railway for 6, and South Western Railway for 22. The trains will primarily serve Maharashtra and the Konkan region, where passenger demand is especially high during the festival.

Konkan Railway trains will halt at stations including Kolad, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Junction, Karwar, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki, and Surathkal, among others.

More trains likely to be added closer to festival

The Western Railway Ganpati Special trains will stop at the following stations: Borivali, Vasai Road, Bhiwandi Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Junction, Karwar, Gokarna Road, Kumta, and Murdeshwar. 

Among other stations, Central Railway will serve Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, and Zarap. These will also include South Western Railway trains that serve Haveri, Davangere, Birur, Tumakuru, Yesvantpur, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, and Bantawala. 

Additional Ganpati Special services may also be organised by the railways later on as the festival nears, with an intention to allow smooth travel and prevent overcrowding, the railways remarked. The railways also assured of its continued efforts at having safe, trusted, and easy travel, especially during the festivals when the number of passengers is high.
