Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart's Relationship Timeline

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart's first encounter was straight out of a rom-com — albeit one set among the Hollywood A-list. The Star Wars actor and the Ally McBeal alum initially met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. Reports circulated at the time that Flockhart got her future husband's attention by intentionally spilling a drink on him, but the Emmy nominee later said that wasn't the case. "We were having a conversation for maybe 20 minutes before the wine spilled, and the truth is, Harrison spilled the wine!" Flockhart told Hello! magazine in June 2003. In the same interview, the Witness star gushed about his romance with Flockhart, who is 22 years his junior. "I'm in love," Ford told the outlet. "Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did." Flockhart, for her part, said the pair's age difference wasn't something she thought about much. "It doesn't faze me," she explained. "It doesn't factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It's not handsome, it's more cute. He looks like a little boy." The pilot proposed to Flockhart in February 2009 after seven years of dating, and the duo tied the knot the following year at a ceremony held at the governor's mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ford also adopted Flockhart's son, Liam, who was born in 2001. The couple have kept details about their relationship relatively private over the years, but they occasionally share funny stories about each other. In 2015, Flockhart revealed that Ford was "learning to text" at age 73, but he didn't quite grasp the concept of emojis. The twosome met for the first time at the 59th Golden Globe Awards, where Ford received the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Flockhart, meanwhile, was nominated for her turn in Ally McBeal.

The couple made one of their first public appearances at the Venice International Film Festival.

Ford proposed to Flockhart over Valentine's Day weekend.

The couple tied the knot in New Mexico, where Ford was filming Cowboys & Aliens. The ceremony was officiated by then-Governor Bill Richardson.

Ford, who is an avid pilot, made an emergency landing in Venice, California, because of a mechanical problem. The Indiana Jones star suffered a broken pelvis and broken ankle during the accident. “It was a really hard, scary time for our family,” Flockhart told reporters five months after the incident. “I think it just makes you realize, once again, that life can turn on a dime. We just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.”

The pair attended the premiere of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, which saw Ford reprise his role as Han Solo for the first time since 1983's Return of the Jedi.

Ford flew Liam (and Flockhart) in his private plane to drop the teen off at college.

Flockhart joined Ford at the premiere of 1923, the Yellowstone spinoff that also stars Helen Mirren. The show is the 42 actor's first major role in a TV series.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ford revealed that Flockhart "does not fly with me in vintage airplanes" since his 2015 accident, noting "she will in others." (The Fugitive star was flying a WWII airplane at the time.) Recalling the harrowing incident, he added, "It was really hard on my family and it was hard on me."

The couple held hands as they attended the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny during the 76th Cannes Film Festival in France.

While accepting his Career Achievement Award at the Critics Choice Awards, Ford praised Flockhart for offering him so much “support” over the years. “I want to thank my lovely wife, Calista Flockhart, who supports me when I need a lot of support,” he said while seeming to tear up. “And I need a lot of support.”

Flockhart accompanied Ford to the red carpet premiere for the second season of his Apple TV+ comedy-drama Shrinking at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center. In the streaming hit from Jason Segel and Ted Lasso co-creators Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, Ford delivers a gripping performance as an esteemed psychotherapist struggling to come to grips with his own Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

Ford exclusively spoke to Us about why he’d yet to work with Flockhart, saying: “[There’s] just the circumstantial reality where we haven’t been offered something where we’d work together.”

The couple have not given up on finding the right project, with Ford insisting he’d “love to work” with the former Ally McBeal alum someday.
