But there is a limited number of times through which you can make any modification to the Aadhaar card. For instance, you can modify your name in the Aadhaar card twice. Here, we will let you know about those details that can be modified in Aadhaar and how many times.

Know the Limits: Updating name & date of birth in Aadhaar

You can update or change your name in Aadhaar only twice. For this, you will have to provide the correct documents, such as a marriage certificate, a passport, a PAN card, a voter ID, or any other valid identity card.

In case of the date of birth, you can only modify it once. However, in the case of the address, you can modify it any number of times. You can even modify the address yourself by visiting the official website of UIDAI.

No Limits: Changing mobile number & email in Aadhaar

There is no particular restriction on changing the mobile number and email ID. You can update your mobile number or email ID by going to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra at any time. You don't need any documents for this purpose. However, remember that your registered mobile number is very important as the OTP for online updates is sent to it.

Other changes in Aadhaar card

Equally, it is free to change the photo on the Aadhaar card, but only up to once at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, and there is a fee of Rs 50 for this. Also, no option is available for changing it online.

Gender can be updated, too. If you wish to update your gender, then there is a one-time option for it too, and you can change it once.

What do I need to do in order to modify more than the limit?

If you wish to modify the name, date of birth, and gender number of times, then it is doable. But this will occur in the case of an extraordinary situation. To do this, you will have to visit the Aadhaar regional office once again.

In this case, firstly, you will have to mail the regional office of Aadhaar or help@uidai.gov.in. Then you will have to tell them why you want to do it. Then you will have to give the concerned details and evidence. The regional office of Aadhaar will make its own checks. If it believes that your appeal is right, then the regional office will accept it. If your appeal is incorrect, then it will not be accepted.
