Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan responded to calls for his resignation by asserting that he has “always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards,” after former U.S. President Donald Trump demanded he step down over alleged conflicts of interest.
Trump, posting on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, wrote, “The CEO of Intel is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!”
The remarks came shortly after U.S. Senator Tom Cotton sent a letter to Intel Chairman Frank Yeary raising concerns about Tan’s investments and alleged connections to semiconductor firms with reported links to the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army. Cotton asked whether Tan had divested from such companies to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
