Kourtney Kardashian Says She Doesn't Know Why Kids Go to School

Kourtney Kardashian says she prefers to go “against the grain” when it comes to living life and raising her kids.

While a guest on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast “Khloé in Wonder Land,” Kourtney opened up about parenting 18-month-old son Rocky — who she shares with her husband, Travis Barker — her three kids with ex Scott Disick: 15-year-old Mason, 12-year-old Penelope, and 10-year-old Reign.

“I think living authentically is not conforming to whatever it is,” Kourtney explained. “For me, there’s ways we function as a family that it’s like, if someone does the same thing every day, like, I do it with everything, it’s not (just) about our family.”

Kourtney is also the stepmother of Barker’s kids. The musician is dad to son Landon, 21, daughter Alabama, 19, and his stepdaughter Atiana, 25, all of whom he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

“Let’s say the school system. I’ll think, ‘Why do kids f****** go to school?’ Truly, it’s so dated,” Kourtney continued to Khloé. Although she didn’t go into details about why she feels getting a traditional education is “dated,” it was an example Khloé was on board with.

“Oh, I’m such a homeschool person, so don’t even get going,” she agreed.

“So then I’ll start thinking, and then like, you know, my kids will send me videos about, like, ‘Why do kids go to (school)?’ It’ll be like, really successful people, and they’ll be like, ‘My kids never go to school and they’re never going to’ and whatever,” Kourtney said. “And then I’m like, ‘OK, what’s the goal here? You want to do homeschool? Let’s do it.’”

Kourtney said the same goes for her more holistic approach to dealing with common sicknesses as well.

“I think it’s anything, I will, like, nurse the fever of my kids versus giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. Like, I just, like, want to do that. And whatever, whatever it is, there’s so many things like that where I feel like I kind of do, maybe in the world, generally, maybe does more of what I do, but in the United States (it’s different.)”

The sister ended their conversation on the topic when they were interrupted by a FaceTime call from Kim Kardashian, who was getting ready for the Met Gala.
