Love Is Blind's Ali Shades Ex Anton — And Hints There's More to Their Split

Love Is Blind season 9 star Ali Lima has Us raising eyebrows about what actually led to her decision to end her engagement to Anton Yarosh.

Warning: This post includes spoilers for the Love Is Blind season 9 finale.

Ali, 29, reposted an Instagram post from show producers Kinetic Content about her breakup with Anton, also 29.

“I feel like the person that I fell in love with in the pods isn’t the person I’ve gotten to experience in real life,” Ali had told Anton at the altar.

Kinetic shared Ali’s quote alongside the caption, “The honesty in this scene.”

As Ali shared the Kinetic upload to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, October 23, she added a cryptic message.

“And you don’t even know the half of it 👀,” Ali wrote.

Ali and Anton sparked an instantaneous connection in the Love Is Blind pods, where they got engaged sight unseen. While Ali and Anton were one of the few couples who made it to the altar, the nurse shocked her groom when she said “no” in her vows.

During the wedding ceremony, Anton proclaimed that he wanted to marry Ali and start their next chapter together. She, however, rejected him and claimed he was completely different in reality as he presented he was in the pods.

“I can’t be your wife,” Ali tearfully told Anton during the nuptials. “I feel like the person I fell in love with in the pods isn’t the person I got to experience in real life. I’m so sorry.”

Ali later explained in a confessional that “it didn’t feel right” marrying Anton after he allegedly hadn’t been “super forthcoming” about his lifestyle.

“It was really hard to leave him up there. I almost wish he would have said now,” she added. “I was really hoping that standing up there with him would, like, make me feel at ease and confident. It just didn’t feel right or how I would expect that moment to feel like.”

According to Ali, her fiancé also hadn’t shared the extent of his drinking and partying habits, in addition to his extraordinarily health-conscious dietary restrictions.

“Some of the information that I learned about Anton through his friends threw off my perspective of him,” Ali continued. “It just feels really s***ty to be the one walking away.”

Ali and Anton previously disagreed about whether he drank too much alcohol each day, which he shut down on several occasions. In his own post-wedding confessional, Anton addressed Ali’s reasons for walking away.

“You know, she said that she feels like I’m not the person that I was in the pods,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s looks, I don’t know if it’s the vibes or I don’t know if it’s the way that we were living together, but I can say that I’ve done nothing but care for her and it f***ing sucks, man.”

Ali and Anton were among the season 9 couples who opted to break up instead of tying the knot, marking the first time that a season ended without even one marriage.

“In season 9, at least one member of each couple felt their love was not strong enough to overcome the challenges of the real world, and they chose not to get married,” creator Chris Coelen told Tudum of the show’s hypothesis that lasting love is truly blind. “That’s exactly how the experiment is supposed to work, so I would say not only is the experiment working, I think it’s working better than ever.”

Ali and Anton will come face-to-face to rehash their breakup during the cast’s tell-all reunion, which airs on Netflix Wednesday, October 29, at 9 p.m. ET.
