Nick Mangold Family Guide: Meet the Late NFL Star's Wife and 4 Kids

Former NFL star Nick Mangold was a dedicated family man before his sudden death on October 25 from complications of kidney disease. He was 41.

Just a few weeks prior to his untimely death, Mangold shared with fans that he was in need of a kidney transplant and his health was dire.

“This isn’t an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what’s been happening with me and my health,” Mangold wrote via Instagram on October 14. “In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease. After a rough summer, I’m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have more time.”

His death, announced on October 26 rocked the NFL community as condolences poured in for the former New York Jets player.

“Nick was more than a legendary center,” Jets Chairman Woody Johnson said in a statement. “He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football. Off the field, Nick’s wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family.”

“It’s brutal. Such a great young man,” Rex Ryan, who coached Mangold for six seasons, said that same day. “I had the pleasure of coaching him for six years on the Jets.

He continued: “[Mangold] was awesome, and just way too young. I feel so bad for his wife and family.”

In addition to being a two-time All Pro NFL player, Mangold was a husband and father to four young kids.

Mangold and his wife, Jennifer, share four children: son Matthew, daughter Eloise, son Thomas and daughter Charlotte.

Nick Married His Wife In 2007

Mangold and Jennifer were high school sweethearts, getting married in April 2007. They met in Centerville, Ohio, before Mangold started his NFL career.

Jennifer stayed out of the spotlight for the most part during Mangold’s career, but was mentioned by name by Jets Chairman Woody Johnson as he sent his condolences to the family.

“On behalf of the entire Johnson family and the New York Jets organization, we offer our sincere condolences to Jenny, their four children — Matthew, Eloise, Thomas, and Charlotte — as well as to Nick’s extended family, friends, and all who loved him,” said Johnson in a statement.

The couple have four young kids together, two sons and two daughters: son Matthew, daughter Eloise, son Thomas and daughter Charlotte.

Mangold Traveled With His Family to Italy and Disney World In 2023

The family took a couple big trips in 2023, which Mangold documented on his Instagram account. Mangold and his family went to Disney World in Orlando, and he and his wife also traveled to Italy.

“The most amazing week in Italy,” Mangold posted along with a selfie of him and Jennifer in Rome. “From the big city of Roma to the small town of Citta Della Pieve we saw it all.”

Also on Instagram, Mangold posted a photo of a special sign that his daughter, Eloise, left for him in the family refrigerator. The sign, taped to Eloise’s lunch, says, “For Eloise do not touch. I am not kidding daddy.”

Certainly seems like Mangold was a strict enforcer of the dad tax.
