NSDL Shares Today: Shares of National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) continued their stellar post-listing performance, rising nearly 16 per cent in Friday’s trade. This marks the third consecutive session of gains since the company made its stock market debut on August 6. shares of NSDL are trading over 62 per cent above its IPO price, that is 48 per cent gain in just three sessions.
NSDL market capitalisation has past the Rs 25,000 crore mark.
Strong Start Defies Modest Listing
NSDL made a modest debut earlier this week, listing at Rs 880 per share on the BSE—a 10 per cent premium over its IPO price of Rs 790. The listing was slightly below grey market expectations, which had pegged a 16 per cent premium, but the stock has quickly made up for it with impressive follow-up gains.
Long-Term Potential Draws Investors
Market analysts attribute the rally to NSDL’s dominant market position, strong financials, and positive sentiment around the expansion of India’s capital markets. With rising demat account penetration, digitisation, and sustained inflows into equities, depositories like NSDL are seen as long-term structural beneficiaries.
Despite trading at a rich valuation—P/E ratio of around 77, notably higher than peer CDSL’s 66—many analysts recommend holding the stock for the long term.
“NSDL’s leadership in the depository space and strong growth potential justify the premium valuation. Long-term investors should stay invested,” said a market analyst.
IPO Recap
NSDL’s IPO had received healthy subscription across all investor categories, backed by its robust financial track record and sector leadership. The grey market premium (GMP) ahead of listing had hovered around 16 per cent, setting high expectations for the stock’s market debut.
While the listing gains were moderate, the stock’s performance in the secondary market has far exceeded early predictions, attracting both institutional and retail interest.
