Leave it to Paris Hilton to turn a beauty blunder into a fashion statement.
The heiress-turned-Global Ambassador for Paul Mitchell, 44, opens up about the time a routine salon visit to a Hollywood stylist in the early 2000s turned into a complete shock, and how she managed to spin it into a style trend in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.
“I was not paying attention, just like on my phone and then I looked up and I had like long hair all the way down to my waist at this point, and I looked up and he had cut my hair all the way to my ears,” Hilton shares, revealing she was taken aback by the drastic chop.
“I was so in shock and I looked in the mirror and I didn’t know what to say. He’s like ‘Do you like it?’ And I went to the bathroom and called my sister crying,” she admits.
But the Simple Life star didn’t panic for long, instead transforming the hair mishap into a red carpet-worthy fad. Hilton’s short hair era with a chin-length bob had many fans opting for a cropped ‘do.
“I got extensions to make it like a cute bob, and I liked it, but that was yeah, that was not done purposely,” she tells Us. “Then it became a trend, and everyone started cutting their hair. So, I was like, ‘OK.’”
Since then, Hilton has worked on giving her mane all the TLC it could ever need, detailing to Us how her haircare philosophy has changed over time — especially after all of her different style moments.
“My advice would be to always make sure to deep condition your hair, especially now I work basically almost every single day, so I’m constantly getting my hair styled all the time. So, it’s really important to use amazing products,” the fashion icon shares.
Hilton has been named as the new Global Ambassador for Paul Mitchell, marking a bold, year-long partnership between two iconic names in beauty and pop culture.
In an epic, year-long beauty takeover spanning digital, in-store and social media platforms, Paul Mitchell X Paris Hilton will celebrate two iconic brands in one epic collab, sliving together to serve fresh looks and elevated style.
“That’s why I love all the Paul Mitchell products, using the deep conditioners and just using the different sprays that they have, texturizing spray, and just taking care of my hair,” she adds.
“Back in the day, everyone was wearing those extensions, which are just so hard on your hair,” Hilton says. “So, it’s just really important to take care of your hair, because it’s delicate.”
