Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt ‘Couldn’t Be More Excited’ to Be Parents

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt are gearing up to welcome their first baby together, and the couple couldn’t be more thrilled about becoming parents.

“They are having a winter baby and are so excited for this next chapter,” an insider reveals exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, of the model, 29, who is “due in a few months,” and the SNL alum, 31. “They’ve been living together and getting everything ready for the baby, and it’s brought them so much closer.”

Noting that the duo is in “full prep mode,” the insider adds that Davidson and Hewitt have been “setting up the nursery, taking classes together and doing all the little things to get ready.”

Becoming parents takes on a special meaning for Davidson in particular, who lost his own dad in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

“Pete’s been very hands-on and honestly couldn’t be more excited to be a dad,” the insider tells Us. “Ever since he lost his dad, he has always dreamed of having his own family. This is his dream and it came at a perfect time in his life. He’s totally embraced the whole thing and just lights up talking about their baby on the way.”

The pregnancy has also brought the couple — who went public with their relationship earlier this year — closer together.

“It has been an exciting time for them and they are doing really well as a couple,” says the insider. “They have talked about getting engaged but are not rushing it. It’s not their priority right now and they are committed to being loving parents together. Pete has been there for Elsie every step of the way and is very supportive and loving making sure she is taken care of.”

The source also notes that the Davidson family shares the comedian’s joy as well.

“Pete’s family is very proud of how far he has come, and his mom is ecstatic to become a grandma,” the insider says.

Hewitt announced that she and Davidson are expecting their first baby in July with an Instagram post joking, “Welp now everyone knows we had sex,” along with ultrasound photos.

Later that month, the comedian broke his silence on the news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“Well, I honestly couldn’t be more excited. As you know, it’s been my dream forever since I was a little kid,” he said at the time. “The baby’s mother is one of my favorite people to ever exist ever. She’s going to be a great mom and I’m just stoked.”

Last month, Davidson shared his gratitude for his sobriety ahead of becoming a dad on Theo Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast.

“In other relationships or when I was a drug addict and, you know, very mentally deranged … like, that was my goal. Like, I need to have a kid. I need to get married, like, because that’s how I grew up,” he said. “All my aunts and uncles got married at, like, 21. And they knew each other since grammar school. And they had three kids by 26. … But I was so not ready.”

He continued: “So I’m really grateful it happened now, and I wasn’t looking for a relationship or looking to … obviously I wanted to, but I wasn’t looking to have a baby. And it all just kind of happened at once. And it’s been, like, awesome. … I’m, like, relieved it’s [Hewitt]. And just it’s, yeah, I’m f***ing excited, dude. It’s awesome.”
