PIB Fact Check: Some articles and posts are widely circulating on social media platforms claiming that the Railway Ministry has made a major decision to halt the Japanese bullet train project. These claims suggest that the much-anticipated high-speed train will no longer operate between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

"Some articles and social media posts are claiming that the Railway Ministry has made a big decision regarding the bullet train - now the Japanese bullet train will not run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad," the notification said.

However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) official Fact Check handle said the claim is fake and posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Railway Ministry has not taken any such decision regarding the report.

The PIB's official fact-check Twitter handle, 'PIB Fact Check' said that the claim in the viral message is misleading.

The Ministry of Railways has confirmed that the project is progressing as per schedule.

In fact, under the India-Japan strategic partnership, the Japanese government is set to introduce next-generation E10 Series Shinkansen trains for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.

Spanning 508 kilometers, the high-speed rail corridor is being built with Japanese Shinkansen technology, known globally for its benchmarks in speed, safety, and reliability. The bullet train is expected to revolutionize travel between the two financial hubs once completed.
