Markets are expected to open cautiously positive on Wednesday, July 23, driven by global cues, institutional flows, and a busy day for earnings. At 6:33 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading 50 points lower at 25,143, indicating a mildly positive start for benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty.

Global cues support sentiment

Asian markets edged higher in early trade after US President Donald Trump announced a “massive” trade deal with Japan, pledging investments worth $550 billion into the US. The Nikkei jumped 1.85 per cent, while Topix gained 1.95 per cent. Australia’s ASX 200 rose 0.55 per cent, while South Korea’s Kospi was flat.

On Wall Street overnight, the Dow Jones gained 0.4 per cent and the S&P 500 ended at a record high, up 0.06 per cent. However, the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.39 per cent on profit booking.

Key Q1 results to watch

Investors will track earnings from Infosys, Tata Consumer Products, Dr. Reddy’s, Bajaj Housing, SRF, Coforge, Persistent Systems, and Oracle Financial Services, among others.

Stocks like Dixon Technologies, Paytm, IRFC, JSW Infrastructure, United Breweries, and KEI Industries are likely to react to their earnings announced post-market on Tuesday.

Institutional investment trends

On July 22, FIIs net sold shares worth Rs 3,566.75 crore, while DIIs turned net buyers, investing Rs 5,044.45 crore, reflecting continued domestic support despite global uncertainty.
