Prince Harry Reportedly Makes Peace Offering Amid Tension With King Charles

Prince Harry is still on a mission to reconcile with his father, King Charles III.

Harry, 40, is reportedly extending an olive branch to the royal family by sharing his official schedule of upcoming engagements, according to a Sunday, July 27, report published by the Daily Mail. The alleged move has been seen as a way to reportedly ease ongoing tensions between the Duke of Sussex and his father, who have been estranged since 2020.

A source told the newspaper that this is a “significant milestone” in the ongoing feud between Harry and his family. Harry’s decision to share his schedule is a way to “deconflict” apparent tension after his recent trip to Africa received more public attention than Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday portrait, the Daily Mail reported.

The agreement reportedly involves a “grid” of Harry’s upcoming appearances, shared with both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace (his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton).

Details regarding the reported agreement between the royal family come weeks after it was widely reported that senior members of Harry and Charles’ teams had a closed-door meeting in London.

Us understands that Chief Communications Officer to the Duke and Duchess, Meredith Maines, was in London for routine meetings to meet with the UK-based communications team, media, stakeholders and senior figures connected to the Duke’s patronages.

Other outlets, however, reported at the time that the conversations were about resolving the ongoing family feud.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, separated themselves from the royal family in 2020 after stepping away from their duties as senior members of the monarchy. Harry made headlines earlier this year after further fueling the family drama after sitting down for a bombshell interview with the BBC.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry said at the time, referencing Charles’ ongoing illness. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

Harry claimed that Charles “won’t speak to me,” adding that “it would be nice to reconcile.”

The interview came after Harry lost his appeal for government-funded security in late April. (The Duke of Sussex and Meghan, 43, lost their security protection on their trips to the U.K. after departing from the royal family.)

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry said during the same interview. “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
