Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are looking for a wedding venue, and the Governor of Rhode Island wants to bring the two back to the Ocean State.
“Rhode Island has some of the best wedding venues in the world, just saying.👀,” Governor Dan McKee wrote via X on August 26 as he reshared the NFL’s congratulatory message to the couple.
Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced their engagement on August 26, posting a photo of Kelce’s proposal via Instagram with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”
And while Swift is originally from Pennsylvania and Kelce from Ohio, Rhode Island is not an unrealistic destination. Swift owns a $17.5 million mansion in Westerly, located in southwest Rhode Island on the Connecticut border.
The eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom residence is currently under renovation, but Swift has hosted a number of parties there, even welcoming Kelce, his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper last summer as she took a break from her Eras Tour.
Page Six reported on Wednesday, September 3, that the couple is planning to get married in Rhode Island in the summer of 2026.
Regardless of where Swift and Kelce decide to tie the knot, they appear to be loving every minute of their time as an engaged couple.
“I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on,” Kelce said on the Wednesday episode of his “New Heights” podcast. “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
Kelce’s father, Ed, recalled the day of their engagement, which he said happened a couple weeks before they shared it publicly.
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” he told News 5 Cleveland the day of the announcement. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”
Swift and Kelce made their first public appearance since their engagement news broke when they attended the Cincinnati vs. Nebraska football game at Kelce’s home turf of Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce played for the Bearcats from 2008 to 2012.
They watched the game from a luxury box, with cameras catching Swift’s engagement ring on full display as she sipped her drink.
