My 1st grader is on the six seven train and I think it’s delightful! Maybe bc I’m not the jaded parent of a middle school jargon-beast yet, but I think it’s so cute and fun to see him come home with lingo and phrases from out in the world, completely independent of his parents. It’s fascinating to me that even at 6, he’s picking up on this generational kid-speak! I feel like an anthropologist observing his strange new customs!

I am a teacher. I hear this all day. Again, Grace. I feel so seen.

As mother of teens, I laughed out loud – six-seven :)))) Brilliant!

MacBeth’s 3rd witch would be saying “skibbidi toilet”, last year’s inscrutable middle school meme. (do not ask me how i know. it is too painful to recount)

This summer I bought a little Poppy Lissiman plush black rat charm,* clipped him to my everyday tote bag and called him my Labubo, and felt very dark and clever until his carabiner detached from his unmentionables and he tumbled to the floor in a Santa Cruz taqueria bathroom! Thank goodness I noticed him when I turned around to make sure I wasn’t trailing toilet paper on my shoe or something! I respected his tagging out of the hustle – I hadn’t asked him if he’d wanted to be a full-time plague-pun accessory, it’s a hard life – and I left the carabiner on the bag and let Labubo live with the other three rats (Jonathan Adler, brass, and rubber-squeaky) on my nightstand.

*So cute! So not ready for the hard-wearing life of a New Yorker’s bag charm!

My 7th graders say 6-7 wayyyyy too often and also want Labubu’s! 😂

I was going to say, tell me you have a seventh grader without telling me you have a seventh grader!

Mom of 7th grader here who has learned how to use the popmart app and spent a girl scout weekend where 6-7 was incorporated into literally every aspect of the weekend…

Gabi, I have had my middle schooler attempt to explain it to me, read the wiki entry, heard it used A LOT and still don’t get it either. But I think it goes under the category of ‘just go with it’… I’ve tried as a joke to say 5-6 or 7-8 instead. DOES NOT LAND WELL. ;)
