Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens dressed to the nines for the 2025 ESPY Awards.

The Olympian, 28, and the NFL player, 29, walked the red carpet together ahead of the Wednesday, July 16, ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The pair were out to impress for the ceremony, with Biles rocking a custom Athleta purple floor-length gown designed by Zac Posen that shimmered in the light. She styled her hair in a wavy lob, accessorizing with dangly earrings and a diamond bracelet. Owens, for his part, opted for black slacks and a open black shirt that showed off his bare chest. He paired the look with a stylish white blazer.

While walking the carpet, the couple, who tied the knot in April 2023, would be seen sharing a few sweet kisses as they posed for cameras.

Biles is nominated for Best Athlete – Women’s Sports and Best Championship Performance for the 2024 Olympics women’s all-around gymnastics event.

Biles and Owens are currently enjoying the NFL offseason before he returns to play as a safety for the Chicago Bears later this year. Shortly after the previous season ended in February, the couple embarked on their honeymoon to South Africa after waiting two years to take the trip due to their busy careers.

The pair’s hectic schedules also kept them from moving into their dream home in Biles’ hometown of Houston. In November 2024, she shared an update on the process.

“At this point, we’ve waited so long for it to be built, we’ll just wait until after the [NFL] season to move in,” she exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “Right now, they’re doing all of the backyard stuff. Jonathan wanted a half-basketball court, a barbeque pit, all of the good stuff. We did put in an in-ground trampoline and pool.”

She added, “We should be closing fairly soon. I go in two weeks to check on it again to see where we are. But we’re literally almost there.”

While Biles and Owens enjoyed high-profile outings at the 2025 Kentucky Derby and the 2025 Met Gala in May, the duo briefly retreated from the spotlight after her highly publicized feud with former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines about transgender athletes.

In June, Gaines, 25, claimed that a championship-winning Minnesota high school softball team’s “star player is a boy,” leading Biles to fire back via X, “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports.”

Biles later told Gaines to “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.” Gaines subsequently accused Biles of body-shaming.

Ultimately, Biles publicly apologized to Gaines, writing in a lengthy X post, “I’ve always believed competitive equity and inclusivity are both essential in sport. The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for. These are sensitive, complicated issues that I truly don’t have the answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect.”

Owens showed his support for Biles via Instagram at the time by reposting her apology and adding three heart emojis.

Following a social media hiatus, Biles returned to Instagram earlier this month to share photos of her and Owens’ vacation to Belize.
