Spencer Pratt had a legitimate reason for skipping his friend Brody Jenner’s wedding.
When a fan asked Pratt why he didn’t attend Jenner’s wedding on Saturday, July 12, the reality TV star explained that his family had another engagement — Pratt’s sister-in-law’s wedding.
“At Heidi’s sister’s wedding,” Pratt wrote via TikTok on Saturday, along with a photo of the proud dad posing for the camera with his sons, Gunner and Ryker. “Holly had her wedding [at the] same time.”
Spencer and his wife, Heidi Pratt, rose to fame on the hit reality TV show The Hills, which — among other things — followed their up-and-down love story. Jenner, who got married to professional surfer Tia Blanco over the weekend, also appeared on the show.
The newlywed couple paid homage to Jenner’s reality TV past during their wedding reception.
“Everybody, put your hands together,” a DJ said during the party, per footage shared by Jenner’s mom, Linda Thompson, via her Instagram Stories. “For the first time, give it up for the Jenners.”
In the clip, Jenner and his wife were seen holding hands as they made their way to their guests. Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” could be heard playing in the background. (For the uninitiated, the show famously opened with a rendition of “Unwritten.”)
“The Hills has a whole generation of people who were just glued to that show. It really has a lot of meaning to people and I love to be able to celebrate and honor that,” Bedingfield, 43, told Variety in 2019. “I feel like a song is like a person — it has a life of its own, especially one like ‘Unwritten.’ Once it becomes a hit, it’s not yours anymore. It takes on different forms and meanings to people.”
In June, the best friends reminisced on their The Hills days online.
“What hits worse, rewatching the show or a toddler kick to the balls?” Spencer asked his longtime friend via Instagram, commenting under a mirror selfie of Brody wearing a pair of FridaBalls underwear.
“The only thing worse than a toddler kick to the groin is rewatching season 3,” Jenner responded.

While Brody and Spencer have remained close, the newlywed has lost touch with many of his former The Hills castmates.
“Once I had a family, my No. 1 focus in life is just being there for my family and my daughter,” Brody told E! News back in January, referencing the child he shares with his now-wife. “So I don’t get to talk to very many people besides my family.”
He added, “Lauren, I never talked to. I don’t think I’ve talked to her in 10 years.”
