SpiceJet News: SpiceJet on Wednesday announced that it has signed a lease agreement for an additional five Boeing 737 aircraft to prepare for the upcoming winter 2025 travel season.
According to the airline, most of the planes are expected to join the fleet in October 2025, with some arriving slightly earlier.The aircraft will remain with the airline until May 2026, covering both the peak winter period and the early summer season.
Commenting on the expansion, Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, said the airline was “fully geared to meet the surge in travel demand” and that the additional aircraft would give passengers “more choices, greater connectivity, and a reliable, on-time travel experience.”
They will be inducted under damp-lease arrangements, in which certain operational functions are shared between the lessor and the airline.
Earlier, SpiceJet confirmed the induction of five other Boeing 737s under damp lease, bringing the total number of recent additions to 10. The airline said it is also in advanced talks to lease more aircraft ahead of the winter 2025 schedule.
