"China will always ensure its energy supply in ways that serve our national interests. Tariff wars have no winners. Coercion and pressuring will not achieve anything. China will firmly defend its sovereignty, security and development interests," the ministry stated.

This statement comes just a day after trade discussions between the US and China concluded without a breakthrough. The talks reportedly included concerns from the US side regarding China’s ongoing oil imports from Russia amid international sanctions and geopolitical tensions.

China’s response makes it clear that it intends to continue importing oil based on its national energy needs, regardless of external pressure. The message underscores Beijing's broader position that it will not allow foreign influence to dictate its trade or energy strategies.

Yesterday’s trade talks failed to reach a consensus, and today, China has made it evident that it will continue importing oil to meet its domestic energy requirements.
