Telangana Rains: Heavy rainfall battered multiple parts of Telangana over the past 24 hours, inundating low-lying areas, halting vehicular movement, cutting off remote villages, and disrupting coal production in the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several northern and central districts, warning of continued heavy to very heavy rain.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Mulugu district, with Venkatapuram mandal receiving a staggering 25.5 cm. Villages in the agency areas were marooned, forcing residents to spend the night in flooded homes. The main road between Venkatapuram and Bhadrachalam was completely submerged, cutting off transport connectivity.
Other areas in the district also saw significant rainfall: Eturanagam mandal recorded 18.4 cm, while Mangapet received 15.8 cm. Overflowing lakes, rivulets, and ponds have made relief work difficult.
