There may be more to US President Donald Trump's latest tariff announcements. The 47th US president is expected to make yet another announcement about India at around 9:30 pm India time on on Thursday, sources told Zee Business. Trump is expected to sign an executive order concerning several countries, including India and Japan, said the sources.
There is buzz that there may be a duty of up to 100 per cent on semiconductors and chips, added the sources.
The news comes hours after Trump doubled the existing 25 per cent duty on goods imported into the US from India over Russian oil trade.
The Narendra Modi 3.0 government has had a firm stance on its oil trade with Russia.
Meanwhile, a US delegation is set to visit India on August 24 to discus a potential trade deal. Earlier, at least five rounds of trade negotiations have taken place with no deal.
