The US has proposed NATO-like security assurances for Ukraine, according to news agency AFP.
The proposed guarantees will provide Ukraine with a distinct security assurance without formally joining NATO.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly agreed to the proposal, which has also been shared with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy will travel to Washington on Monday to engage u in talks with US President Donald Trump.
Earlier on Saturday, Trump said Ukraine should make a deal to end the war with Russia because "Russia is a very big power, and they're not".
Trump and Putin have engaged in multiple rounds of talks in Alaska that began on Friday.
