What Pete Davidson Has Said About Wanting Kids as He Expects Baby No. 1

Pete Davidson has talked about wanting to be a parent for years, and now his dream is coming true with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt. Pete and Hewitt announced in July 2025 that they were expecting their first child together, four months after they confirmed their romance via Instagram. “Welp now everyone knows we had sex,” Hewitt captioned a carousel of photos and videos featuring herself and Pete, including a clip of the couple at an ultrasound appointment. Pete had opened up about his desire to have children many times before the pregnancy announcement. Not only did he and Ariana Grande joke about starting a family during their 2018 engagement, but the comedian told Charlamagne Tha God in a February 2020 interview that he sees kids in his future. “I want to be there for something or do something that I didn’t have growing up. The rapper continually dissed Pete via Instagram in February 2022, even writing that he “never” wanted Pete to meet his children. The Grammy nominee posted a screenshot of an alleged text message from the Wild 'N Out alum at the time, which read, “As a man, I’d never get [in the] way of your children. That’s a promise. How you guys [go about] raising your kids is your [business] and not mine. When Pete joked in a June 2018 Instagram post that he wanted to have actor Brian Tyree Henry’s babies, Grande jokingly commented, “I look so good here,” implying Pete wanted her children instead. Her then-partner replied with drooling emojis.

In his February 2020 Alive From New York special, Pete mentioned that “all” of his friends “are having” children so he often babysits.

The Meet Cute star joked about his interest in adopting a child with his mom, Amy Davidson, in a February 2020 interview, explaining, “I’m at the point where I’m like, ‘Maybe I should adopt.’ Me and my mom or something, just adopt. I think everybody is afraid of the Davidson seed.”

Pete told Charlamagne that becoming a dad would be “awesome.” He added, “I just want to have a kid, that’s it. … [They] would keep me around, keep my head up.”

When Pete met Olivia Munn and John Mulaney’s son, Malcolm, in January 2022, he joked that “babies are all head.”

"[I'm] definitely a family guy," Davidson told Kevin Hart during a July 2022 preview for season 2 of Peacock's Hart to Heart. "My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid. That's like, my dream."

The Bupkis star continued, "It's like, super corny, [but] it would be so fun. Dress up the little dude. ... I'm so excited for that chapter. That's kind of what I'm just preparing for now, is just trying to be as good as a dude, develop and get better so when that happens it's just easier."

Davidson said during a July 2022 episode of Peacock's Hart to Heart that he "100 percent" sees himself getting married before having kids, adding, "That's the way I hope it goes, you know?"

He explained that his father's 2001 death played a role in his vision for the future. "Since my dad died, I was like, 'Oh, I can't wait to have a kid.' And like, I don't like saying corny s--t — the reasoning was like, 'I don't want a kid to ever feel like how I feel right now,'" the Suicide Squad actor said. "It wasn't his fault [that] he passed away. But just to be there so that someone doesn't have to feel like that. I'm very excited to do that for someone and watch them have what I didn't."

Pete’s girlfriend, Elsie, announced that they were expecting their first child in July 2025. The King of Staten Island star was present in several photos and videos on the actress’ Instagram, including a video taken during an ultrasound appointment.
