The festive season has already started in the country. Citizens recently celebrated Janmashtami, and now they are preparing for Ganesh Chaturthi on Wednesday, August 27. Then Durga Puja, Dusshera, and Diwali will be observed in October. These are the festivals when everyone wants to celebrate with their family. People are booking air tickets in advance, but the airfares have already surged on key routes like Mumbai-New Delhi, New Delhi-Kolkata, and Kolkata-Bengaluru, among other routes.

Why airfares surged before the festive season
The flight ticket prices have increased due to the following reasons:
- Capacity reduction due to the delay in the delivery of aircraft.
- Jet fuel became expensive: 5 per cent increase from last year to 92,000/kilolitre.
- After Durga Puja, there will be a long holiday due to Gandhi Jayanti and the first weekend of Diwali. The rush of passengers increased due to the long weekend.
- Apart from celebrating festivals, vacations are also on the list.
