PM Modi's Independence Day Speech: On this 79th Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi took a heartfelt moment to honour the farmers — the people who truly keep Bharat moving forward. Speaking from the Red Fort, he reminded everyone how tough the colonial times were, leaving the country struggling. But it was our farmers’ hard work that filled the nation’s granaries and made sure India could feed itself.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a 103-minute Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the longest by any prime minister in India's history.

Farmers Are Driving India’s Growth

Did you know India is number one in milk, pulses, and jute production? And number two in rice, wheat, cotton, fruits, and vegetables? Plus, agricultural exports have crossed ₹4 lakh crore! To help farmers in the most backward districts, Modi announced the PM Dhanya Dhanya Krishi Yojana, aimed at lifting 100 such areas.

Water Issues — Farmers First

On the water front, Modi called out the Indus Water Treaty, saying it’s unfair to India’s farmers. He promised Bharat will no longer accept one-sided deals and will fight to get its fair share of water for its fields.

Making Farming Self-Reliant

Modi stressed how important it is to produce fertilizers and other farming essentials right here in India. Relying on imports makes food security shaky, so making these at home will empower farmers and strengthen the whole economy.

Helping Farmers Feel Confident

Thanks to schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, better irrigation, quality seeds, and timely fertilizers, farmers across the country feel more confident and hopeful about their future.

A Promise to Protect Farmers

He wrapped up by saying, “Wherever any harmful policy threatens our farmers, livestock rearers, or fishermen, I will stand like a wall to protect them. Bharat will never compromise on its farmers.”
