Well, banks near you are most likely open today.

There are two reasons behind this.

  • Firstly, it's the first Saturday of the month. Currently, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks in the country observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
  • Secondly, according to the Reserve Bank of India portal, rbi.org.in, it's a public holiday in Gangtok, Sikkim.

According to information available on the RBI website, September 6 is observed as a holiday in Gangtok for Indrajatra or Id-e-Milad (Milad-Un-Nabi).

This is why, unless you are in Gangtok today, banks near you are going to be open on September 6.
