Buzz Aldrin’s fourth wife, Anca Faur, died on Tuesday, October 28. She was 66.

Aldrin, 95, and Faur’s families confirmed her death via Facebook on Wednesday, October 29, noting Faur died “peacefully” in her sleep with her son, Vlad Ghenciu, and husband by her side.

“I am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life,” Aldrin said about his late wife. “She brought joy to everything we did together. I will miss her dearly.”

While honoring Faur, her family praised her career as an “accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.”

According to the statement from her loved ones, Faur served as the treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC.

“Her family requests privacy in their time of mourning,” the statement concluded.

Faur’s death comes less than three years after she and Aldrin tied the knot. The couple met in December 2017 following Aldrin’s divorce from Lois Driggs Cannon.

Aldrin — who became the second person to walk on the moon as a part of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 — started dating Faur in May 2018. The pair got married in January 2023. The ceremony took place at a park on Aldrin’s 93rd birthday.

Following their nuptials, Aldrin told People how special Faur was to him. “I have never been happier in my life than now with my time with Anca,” Aldrin gushed in April 2023.

“She is the love of my life and we do everything together, from eating meals, planning projects and watching the world go by, to meeting with our two families and celebrating,” he added. “I am lucky beyond words.”

Aldrin revealed, “When I met Anca I instantly recognized that here was a woman who is the whole Wizard of Oz package: Brains. Heart. Courage. There is something special about her and the way we connect so well.”

Faur, meanwhile, told the outlet that she and Aldrin connected “at a soulmate level,” so they began talking about marriage “not long after we started dating.”

She added, “We both felt deep in our hearts all these years that marrying each other felt right. That said, we were having such a wonderful courtship we felt no need to rush things.”

Aldrin once again gushed about his partner, who is 29 years his junior, on her birthday earlier this year.

“Happy Happy Birthday to my love, Anca! ❤️🌹I love every minute together!” Aldrin captioned a PDA-filled photo of the pair via X in March.

Prior to his relationship with Faur, Aldrin was married three times. He and first wife Joan Archer were married from 1954 to 1974. Archer died in July 2015 at the age of 84. The former couple shared three children: James, Janice and Andrew.

Aldrin wed Beverly Zile in 1975, but they parted ways three years later. The former astronaut was married to Driggs Cannon for 23 years before filing for divorce in 2011. Driggs Cannon died in July 2018 at the age of 88.
