Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa are moving forward after announcing they called off their engagement less than three months after the season 29 finale aired — and Bachelor Nation has thoughts.
“This is one of the harder things I’ve had to write, but I want to share it honestly. Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship,” Grant, 31, wrote via his Instagram Story on June 13. “We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of deep conversations, we’ve come to the understanding that we’re simply not the right fit long term.”
Juliana, for her part, shared that she and Grant will continue to “cheer each other on” but from “different places.”
“It’s a gift to find someone who sees the world in a way that resonates with you, while also encouraging you to grow. I’ve been grateful to share that experience with Grant,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on the same day their split was announced. “Marriage is a commitment, and it’s one we both still believe in deeply. After a lot of honest conversations and reflection, we’ve come to the decision that this chapter of our lives is meant to continue on separate paths. We shared something meaningful, navigating a unique journey side by side [and] learning, growing and showing up for each other the best we knew how. While this isn’t the ending we once imagined, it’s one filled with mutual respect, care and hope for what’s ahead.”
She concluded her message urging followers to “please be kind.” Scroll down to see Bachelor Nation’s reaction to Grant and Juliana’s split:
Carolina Quixano
Juliana’s fellow season 29 contestant weighed in on the split via TikTok, though she decided not to name names.
“My opinion is anyone claiming to be ready for an engagement with the Bachelor without actually going on a one-on-one with that person is probably trying to ‘win The Bachelor’ more than trying to connect with the actual human,” Carolina said after the former couple announced the end of their engagement. “Anyone who goes out of their way to s*** on someone who’s simply saying they’re nervous about the Bachelor potentially meeting their family and how quickly everything is moving because there is an engagement at the end of it, um, probably not a very nice person.”
She continued, “My opinion is that then lying and then saying that person had nothing good to say about that date is even worse. Branding yourself as a ‘nice girl’ is probably like you’re trying to overcompensate for something. We all know what you stand for. My opinion is that if she hadn’t been ‘the winner,’ everyone would have seen a very different side to all of this.”
While reflecting on Carolina’s claims in a statement to Us Weekly, Juliana noted that the remarks “aren’t surprising.”
“This feels like an attempt to turn our breakup into engagement. That’s her choice,” Juliana exclusively told Us. “As for me, I’m not interested in going back and forth. Eye for an eye isn’t my vibe. I’m focused on healing, staying close to my support system and keeping it all about nice girl energy — always.”
Bob Guiney
The season 4 Bachelor pointed to Us’ interview with Grant, where he shared that he and Juliana were taking their relationship “day by day,” as a sign that a split was on the horizon.
“Grant had said that he and Juliana were taking their engagement day by day. Now that, I will tell you, is a telltale, right?” Bob said during a June 13 episode of the “Almost Famous” podcast. “So, one thing I’ve learned from watching these shows over the years and seeing a few months later as people come through, and if they still haven’t set a date or maybe they still haven’t arrived at something. Three months, I think that’s probably a little premature.”
He continued, “I think everybody’s taking it day by day at that point. They hadn’t even moved in together. I think from that perspective, maybe that’s not as much of a telltale as, as it would have been six months down the road.”
Bob noted that he empathized with Juliana and Grant as someone whose relationship has been in the public eye.

“I’m sad by this too, because I know that no relationship — especially one that’s public — do you want to feel like you got off the train early. I mean, you never want to feel like you’re that person who went through all this stuff and then at the end failed, and that’s how it feels,” Bob said, noting that the former couple may experience “a little bit of embarrassment” since he felt that way when a past split was in the spotlight.
