Land Rover has announced discounts on its Range Rover, Defender and Discovery models in India, with discounts starting at Rs 4.5 lakh. The development follows the GST Council's approval to a chain of rate cuts on items ranging from essential consumables to automobiles.
The highest discount offered by the SUV maker -- part of Tata Motors subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) -- will be available on the Range Rover.
Land Rover to pass on full benefit of GST 2.0 rate cut to customers
Jaguar Land Rover has decided to pass on the full benefit of the central government's GST 2.0 rationalisation drive cut to its Land Rover customers, with the new prices taking effect from Tuesday itself.
The revised prices will offer Rs 4.5-30.4 lakh off to customers on the three models, with Rs 4.6-30.4 lakh on the Range Rover, Rs 7-18.6 lakh on the Defender and Rs 4.5-9.9 lakh on the Discovery, according to the company.

The Range Rover is JLR's flagship luxury SUV, sporting elegant design, premium materials, top-tier comfort, advanced technology including hybrid powertrains, and superior on- and off-road capability, according to its website.
It positions the Defender as a rugged, durable SUV built for off-road adventures, and the Discovery as a versatile, family-friendly SUV.

At its 56th meeting since the rollout of the indirect tax regime in 2017, the GST Council last week announced a lower tax rate of 18 per cent on automobiles from 28 per cent.
That decision came roughly within a fortnight of the prime minister promising "a big Diwali gift" in the form of "substantial" GST rate cuts.

The GST Council has announced a slew of changes in taxes across several industries, with the broad rate for automobiles cut by 10 percentage points to 18 per cent.
Here are five major changes in the GST 2.0 rationalisation drive:
- Petrol and petrol hybrid, LPG, and CNG passenger cars below 1200 cc in the sub-4 metre category will now attract a 1,000-basis-point lower GST of 18 per cent
- Diesel and diesel hybrid cars below 1500 cc in the sub-4 metre category will also be taxed at 18 per cent, instead of 28 per cent
- Three-wheelers will be taxed at 18 per cent instead of 28 per cent
- Motorcycles up to 350 cc will be taxed at 18 per cent instead of 28 per cent
- Goods vehicles will also attract an 18 per cent levy instead of 28 per cent
