Cabinet to decide on key farm loan benefits today at 11 AM

1 day ago 1

In a crucial meeting scheduled for 11 AM today, the Union Cabinet is expected to approve the extension of the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) for the financial year 2025–26.

Under MISS, farmers receive an interest discount of 1.5 percent on short-term loans up to Rs 3 lakh. This subsidy aims to ease credit access and reduce borrowing costs for India’s agricultural community.

Sources indicate that the Cabinet may also consider raising the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan limit from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, further boosting liquidity support for farmers ahead of the upcoming sowing season.

If cleared, both decisions are expected to offer timely financial relief and improve rural credit flow in the agricultural sector.
