China to host SCO summit in Tianjin; welcomes PM Modi to attend

China has announced that it will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, with leaders from over 20 countries and representatives of 10 international organizations expected to participate.

Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Deputy Director General of the Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy, confirmed in a social media post that Chinese authorities have extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the summit.

He expressed confidence that, with the collective efforts of all member nations, the Tianjin summit will serve as a platform for strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation. Lin further noted that the SCO is poised to enter a new phase of high-quality development, marked by enhanced unity, coordination, dynamism and productivity.

China will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Leaders of over 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations will attend relevant events.
