Chris Evans and Wife Alba Baptista's Relationship Timeline

Chris Evans and wife Alba Baptista were first spotted holding hands in November 2022, one year after the pair initially sparked romance rumors. “I’m gonna give you a good answer,” the Gray Man star said in an interview with Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland in July 2022, when asked about what he was focused on. “The answer would be that maybe [I’m] laser-focused on finding a partner, you know, someone that you want to live with.” In addition to their public outings, Evans publicly commented on the Warrior Nun actress’ Instagram upload about her film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris premiering in her home country of Portugal. Evans commented on the upload with a clapping hands emoji and a “melting” smiley face. Then, he shared a PDA-heavy social media tribute to her in January 2023 that made it clear they were serious. Prior to his relationship with Baptista, the Boston native famously was linked to high-profile stars such as Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly. Evans and Baptista first sparked romance rumors when she followed him and several of his family members on Instagram.

Two pumpkins, one love? That’s what eagle-eyed fans seemed to think after Evans shared a photo of two carved jack-o-lanterns — one decorated like the Cheshire Cat, the other engraved with Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas — that appeared to be the same image as Baptista’s mother’s profile picture. “Happy Halloween! 🎃👻❤️,” the actor captioned the shot.

One day before they were photographed holding hands in Manhattan, Evans shared his feelings about the Portugal native in emojis, commenting on one of her Instagram uploads with an emoticon of clapping hands and another one of a melting smiley face.

The pair stuck close together and held hands while surrounded by onlookers in Central Park.

The twosome seemingly went public with their relationship when Evans posted an adorable video of the couple from over the past year. 

“A look back at 2022 ❤️❤️❤️,” the Lightyear star wrote alongside the hilarious compilation of the pair spooking each other as they pass through doorways and do laundry. Towards the end of the clip, the Warrior Nun actress can be heard laughing and yelling "I knew it" after catching on to Evans’ scare tactics. 

“Chris and Alba have gotten serious,” a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly. “This is the most committed anyone can remember him being in a very long time, if not ever. They spend most of their time at his place in Massachusetts and love the quiet life there, surrounded by nature and away from the spotlight. Chris was very open that he wanted to take his time before settling down.”

Evans shared a Valentine's Day tribute with several PDA-heavy photos and revealed he introduced his girlfriend to the video game Mario Bros 3.

The pair tied the knot in Boston in front of family and friends, including several of Evans' Avengers costars. 

Evans revealed that he and Baptista had two weddings while publicly addressing his marriage for the first time at a New York Comic Con panel.

“I got married,” he told the audience while wearing a gold wedding band. “It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast. We did one in Portugal.”

The actor added that the ceremonies were "wonderful and beautiful."

Alba and Evans made their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles. He wore a red double-breasted Dolce & Gabbana suit with a white shirt and silk black tie while Baptista, who painted her nails red to match her husband's outfit, wore a strapless black and white gown. She topped off the look with an intricate diamond necklace and ring in addition to her sparkling wedding bands.

When asked if he hopes to be a “superhero dad” like his Red One costar Dwayne Johnson, Evans told Access Hollywood: “Yeah, I hope so. Yeah, absolutely. The title of dad is an exciting one.”

Evans revealed exactly how he proposed to Baptista. “I proposed to my wife in Portuguese,” Evans told The Knot at the June 7 premiere of his new movie Materialists. “She’s Portuguese, so I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. I had practiced it all week.” He added, “I had practiced it so much that while I’d be making breakfast and you almost just start saying it out loud. Like, ‘Oh God, that’s not just a song that’s stuck in my head! It’s gonna let the cat out of the bag.’” “I got really nervous when it came time to do it,” he recalled. “I actually think I screwed it up, but I still know it.”

Multiple outlets confirmed that Evans and Baptista welcomed their first child together on October 25 in Massachusetts.
