Faith Ward is the first dancer to make the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad while wearing a high ponytail.
“They found me. That’s how they saw me and I guess they just preferred me with my hair up rather than out,” the New Zealand-based dancer, 22, said in a Wednesday, July 23, Instagram video. “There’s not that much tea to it! They asked me to tie it up [two weeks into training camp] and then I kind of just left it that way. The uniform fittings really confirmed it.”
As seen in Faith’s rookie headshot, official cameo portrait and snaps taken during rehearsals, she has worn her long blonde locks tied into a swishy pony with the ends curled. Most of her teammates style their manes down in big, bouncy curls for practices and game days alike.

Kelli Finglass
Faith said in her Wednesday Instagram video that Kelly, the team director, overwhelmingly approved of the look.
“‘Ariana Grande’ is all she had to say,” Faith quipped. “I was, like, ‘That’s amazing.’ Obviously, my hair was a little bit shorter at the time, so we added some longer extensions, went a little bit blonder … and we just freshened [the color up on makeover day]. She really liked it.”
Taylor Altieri
Taylor gave fans another glimpse of Faith’s signature look in a Thursday, July 24, video shared via the DCC team’s Instagram account.
“My bestie’s going to show you her ponytail, and you better listen and you better be nice,” Taylor said in the clip, mirroring the viral TikTok trend.
Taylor then stood in the background, arms crossed, as Faith detailed how her pony was ideal for “hair whips.”
Anna Kate Sundvold
“I LOVE it!!” Anna Kate replied via Instagram comment.
Charly Barby
Charly noted via Instagram comment that Faith is now the team’s “pony princess.”
