Denise Richards will be calling her estranged husband Aaron Phypers’ mother to testify in court about his alleged “abuse,” Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On August 29, Richards, 54, submitted her witness list for the hearing next week, and it includes Aaron’s 84-year-old mom, Patricia Phypers. At the hearing, Richards is expected to argue for her temporary restraining order against Aaron, 52, being turned into a permanent order.
Richards said Patrica will “testify regarding communications” she had with Richards “regarding abuse perpetrated on [Richards] by [Aaron].”
She said she expected Patricia to testify for one hour.
In addition, she listed Aaron as a witness she planned on calling to the stand for four hours.
Richards said she will testify to “all facts pertaining to domestic violence perpetrated by” Aaron. She plans to call three unidentified witnesses. Richards said two have knowledge of alleged abuse by Aaron. A third unidentified witness was also listed. The former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said she was redacting the names for the witness’ protection.
The three witnesses will testify for a total of four hours.
As Us previously reported, Richards accused Aaron of being abusive during their marriage in a petition for a restraining order, which was submitted days after Aaron filed for divorce.
In her filing, the actress claimed, “Throughout our relationship, Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages.”
Aaron adamantly denies all claims of abuse by Richards. He tells Us, “Denise is behaving like a coward” and he claims her “physical abuse allegations are lies.”
Aaron previously told Us, “I want to address recent rumors and speculation that have surfaced regarding my relationship with my wife, Denise Richards. Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone.”
He added, “These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.”
In court documents, Richards claimed she moved out of the Calabasas, California, home they shared in late 2023, due to issues in the marriage. She said she rented three townhomes miles away.
On August 3, Richards drove over to the home she once shared with Aaron. She claimed she went there to pick up personal items. At the moment, Aaron, his parents and brother are living in the home. Aaron called the police when Richards arrived due to him being concerned about somehow violating the restraining order due to the actress being close to him.
Aaron claimed Richards terrified his parents during the ordeal.
Recently, Richards demanded Aaron and his family vacate the home. She claimed the landlord told them Aaron had not paid rent and was facing eviction.
The reality star also alleged that Aaron and his family trashed the home. She attached photos of the alleged damage.
A source close to Aaron denied that his family damaged the home. The insider claimed Aaron and his relative had actually cleaned up the home since Richards left nearly two years ago.
