From laying the smackdown in the WWE ring to smashing box office records in Hollywood, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always been larger than life — both in charisma and muscle.
Fans were stunned when the action star recently showcased a slimmed down look after bulking up for an intense role in The Smashing Machine, trading in his signature brawn for a leaner, more chiseled frame.
“We’re gonna make a film called Lizard Music, which is based off of a novel written by Daniel Pinkwater,” he said during the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival’s “In Conversation With…” series held at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on September 8, 2025. “I’m so excited because I get a chance to hopefully transform again like I was able to do in Smashing Machine.”

Johnson dressed to impress after swapping to a high-protein diet of five to seven meals daily — totaling over 5,000 calories — to play Dr. Smolder Bravestone in 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, reprising his role for the sequel.
Johnson told Toronto International Film Festival CEO Cameron Bailey his next role “is a very whimsical and eccentric 70-something-year-old man called the Chicken Man. And his best friend is a 70-something-year-old chicken.”
“This is me slimmed down,” he said. “I still have a long ways to go.”
