Kate Middleton stepped out in sentiment and style with an outfit that spoke volumes.
The Princess of Wales, 43, nonchalantly showed love to five family members — including her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana — while rocking a plaid pantsuit set on Thursday, September 11, during her visit to the Sudbury Silk Mills in Suffolk to support the British textile industry.
Kate wore one of her go-to pieces: the Daniella Draper Gold Fixed Alphabet necklace, which costs around $495 prior to customizations and features G, C, and L initial charms in honor of her children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
Fans also couldn’t help but notice that her ensemble had a striking resemblance to a look worn by the late Princess Diana nearly four decades ago on September 10, 1989. Kate, however, opted for a black top underneath her suit.
There was also a style nod to her husband, Prince William. The suit she wore was made by London-based fashion designer Bella Freud with The Prince of Wales check, which is a timeless pattern, as pointed out by InStyle.
“The royal [King Edward VIII], who abdicated the throne in 1936, was often photographed wearing the pattern, among the first members of the royal family to become a fashion magnet for the public,” first reported WWD.
Kate ended the day with a separate trip to the Marina Mill in Cuxton, Kent, donning her signature brunette tresses after embracing a seemingly short-lived blonde hair color.
Princess Diana’s former hairdresser Sam McKnight previously spoke out in support of her light and bright ‘do via his Instagram Story on September 4 after critics blasted her new look.
“A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armor, defense, confidence and so much more,” he said in the wake of her cancer battle. (Kate announced she was in remission in January).
“She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation,” McKnight, 70, added. “Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life changing for everyone. So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU.”
Former royal butler Grant Harrold also told Us Weekly exclusively that Kate looked “beautiful” with blonde hair while promoting his upcoming book, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, adding, “She’s been through a real s*** time. Why not enjoy? She’s not afraid of doing that.”
