Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Celebrates ‘Growth’ in Relationship With Sammie

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is grateful for the current state of his relationship with ex Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola.

“I’m actually happy that me and Sam have grown so much and we have so much growth,” Ronnie, 39, exclusively shared with Us Weekly before the Thursday, September 10, season finale of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. “Whatever animosity that was there or whatever bitterness is there is finally gone. We can coexist and we can work together.”

Although the MTV reality stars won’t exactly be GTL — gym, tan, laundry, for the uninitiated — partners in crime, both parties have been able to make new memories together as the Jersey Shore cast prepares to mark 15 years together.

“We don’t have to be best friends, but as long as the respect is there that we have for each other, I think that’s the most [important],” Ronnie continued. “That’s the biggest thing is just showing respect for each other and where we both have come in our lives. And I think we both do a very good job of that.”

In August, Sammi, 38, celebrated a significant milestone in her life when she welcomed a baby boy with fiancé Justin May.

While Ronnie didn’t reach out after the news was confirmed via social media, he did “like a couple of the photos of her, Justin and the baby on Instagram.”

“I’m very happy for them,” he said. “I’m very, very, very happy for the family that they have right now.”

Fans watched Ronnie and Sammi develop a connection during season 1 of Jersey Shore back in 2009. The pair experienced several highs and lows before splitting for good in 2014.

When Jersey Shore: Family Vacation premiered in 2018, Sammi was noticeably missing from the show. She ultimately decided to come back, however, in 2023.

As the cast — which also includes Pauly D, Vinny Guadagnino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Nicole Cortese, Angelina Pivarnick and Jenni “JWoww” Farley — prepares to celebrate 15 years together in Thursday’s season finale, both Ronnie and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino can’t help but wonder what the show could look like in another 15 years.

“These guys are my family. I’m opening up my own treatment centers called the Archangel Centers over the next month. I’m so excited for that,” Mike, 43, told Us. “I think there’s so much more story to tell. A lot of us have just started our family. … I believe there are a dozen children amongst us, which is a football team.”

“I wouldn’t put it past anyone if our children got together because they’re all very similar ages as us,” he continued. “Oh my God. What a story that would be.”

For Ronnie, he’s happy to do the show as long as fans want to watch the memorable crew.

“I’ll be in a walker with dentures if I have to,” he joked. “As long as it entertains the fans … I’m down for the ride.”

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs on MTV Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
