Johnny Manziel Reveals Player Passes Out in Water on ‘Special Forces’

Johnny Manziel says he and his fellow players on season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test witnessed a scary moment when a player “passed out” in the water while filming.

“It was really crazy to see somebody passed out from a water thing that we did,” Manziel, 32, told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting the new season. “And to hear it from the staff that she was struggling, and then see the urgency at which [they] moved to get her in the water and get her out and get her back to a better place was really intense.”

Manziel would not reveal who the player is other than saying it was a woman.

“Not knowing if she was OK, if we were going to have to have an ambulance,” he added, “It was very intense and real.”

Season 4 of the Fox competitive reality series features Manziel competing alongside 17 other celebrities, including three other former NFL players in Randall Cobb, Eric Decker and Andrew East.

Manziel said he left to film the season on May 15 and hasn’t returned home since, instead traveling to Europe where he joined Drake on his European tour. The football player and rapper have been friends for more than a decade, first connecting when Manziel was playing college football at Texas A&M.

Manziel called the opportunity to tour Europe with him “living in a fantasy world” as he got to visit London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Paris and more.

Even better, filming Special Forces and traveling with Drake back-to-back helped him learn more about himself.

“The show really helped me get to a place where I felt like I needed to be, but I wasn’t quite all the way there,” Manziel explained. “Being around a person like Drake and the people in his crew and the people I’ve known since I was 18 years old got me to a place where I’m really sure of who I am as a person, of what I want to do in life.”

“I needed the family that I made on the show and I needed the family that I have on that crew,” he continued. “The love and support of people reminding me who I am and what I’ve done in this life and what I continue to do … I’m extremely, extremely happy.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 4 premieres on Fox Thursday, September 25, at 9 p.m. ET.
