Justin Timberlake was seen getting animated with a stage crew while performing at the Lytham Festival.
In a clip shared via TikTok, Timberlake, 44, was joined on stage by a member of the crew in Lytham St Annes, England, earlier this month. After speaking into Timberlake’s ear, the crew member looked down at his watch before pointing at the stage.
The camera panned to where the crew member was pointing before circling back to Timberlake, who was then joined by another member of the crew. The trio stood on stage as Timberlake began shaking his head and making a gesture with his hand and pointing down at the stage twice. After the threesome finished their conversation, Timberlake turned around and spoke into the microphone.
The fan wrote over the video, “@JustinTimberlake fuming as sound [cuts] @LythamFestival.”
Us Weekly reached out to Timberlake’s rep for comment.
Other fans claimed via social media that Timberlake’s audio cut out while he was singing “Cry Me a River,” which is rumored to be about his romance with Britney Spears. The exes met on the set of the All New Mickey Mouse Club in the early ’90s, making their debut as a couple in 1999. Timberlake and Spears, now 43, parted ways in 2002 after rumors of infidelity.
The hit track appears to point to a cheating scandal, with Timberlake hiring a doppelganger of Spears as his costar in the music video. Timberlake addressed the song in his 2018 book, Hindsight, writing, “I’ve been scorned. I’ve been pissed off. The feelings I had were so strong, I had to write it. I translated my feelings into a form where people could listen and hopefully relate to it. People heard me and they understood it because we’ve all been there.”
After the song was released in 2002, Spears told Rolling Stone that Timberlake told her he was dropping a “controversial” video.

“He got what he wanted. I think it looks like such a desperate attempt, personally,” she told the outlet at the time. “But that was a great way to sell the record. He’s smart.”
Spears further reflected on the song in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. “I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story,” Spears wrote. “I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version. I don’t think Justin realized the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day.”
When the memoir hit shelves, a source exclusively told Us that Timberlake was “disappointed” with Spears sharing her version of the events.
